Thank you to my cousin Danaya for giving me her reading updates (she has been given the title of "cousin that doesn't read" lol) which, after years of avoiding it on booktok, convinced me to pick up this book. I'm very wary of murder mystery books because usually the killer is obvious and there are very few YA mystery books that have captured my attention (Truly Devious did but then I got bored during book 2 and spoiled it for myself lol) but this one reeled me in so fast! I started it as an audiobook after listening to a sample on the Libro. fm app and bought it using a credit because it had a full cast complete with like the phone ringing and the quality through the phone being a little less than stellar but still good enough to listen to. I then also switched to my Kobo lol when my dad would pick me up after work (or if my headphones died). One thing I don't recommend is walking around the *spooky* stacks while the characters are running through the rain in the dark because the MC saw a flash of light while they're setting up the tent for camp because you're gonna be looking over your shoulder the whole time (I am definitely not speaking from experience lol).

I thought Pippa was an extremely likeable character - she was smart and did things that scared her but it was worth it. One thing to note is that I accidentally read the UK version but listened to the US version because I’d gotten it from the Libro FM app (highly recommend!)
Of course, the ending did, in fact, take me by surprise and I didn't guess the killer because I was more focused on reading than theorizing but I did get back at my cousin with my own text message updates, especially at 1 am after work despite needing to go to bed.
Shout out to Danaya once again for taking this stellar picture which I then worked editing magic on because I don't have a copy of the book and she did. Don't know what I'd do without her. Check out my video review below!
